VISA Desjardins credit cards are moving toward the new technology.

Though magnetic stripe cards are still safe, chip cards provide better security:

• PINs replace cardholder signatures for credit card transactions at the point of sale.
• PINs make it more difficult for people to use lost or stolen cards.
• Chip cards provide increased transaction security because they feature perfected mechanisms that efficiently protect against card fraud and skimming.

Accepting cards

Desjardins chip credit cards still have a magnetic stripe and are accepted everywhere whether chip card technology is available or not.
